Today marks the beginning of National Poetry Writing Month ā a tradition that began in 2003, inspired by National Novel Writing Month, during which poets are encouraged to write a poem each day, fostering a sense of community and artistic expression.
For me, poetry is not just an art form but a deeply ingrained mode of expression. Since my childhood, I've found in poetry a unique way to articulate thoughts and emotions, a space where words flow with a rhythm and life of their own.
Throughout this month, I'll be sharing daily poems on my Instagram @a.t.mcwilliams, inviting you to explore the myriad ways words can capture and convey our deepest sentiments and observations.
The first poem Iām sharing is called "april fool's day" ā a poem that melds humor with insight, serving as a reflection on the nuanced role of language in American politics. This piece uses oxymorons to peel back layers of meaning, offering a glimpse into how contrasts in language can reveal unexpected truths. Join me on this journey of discovery, where each poem delves into the intricate dance of language and its profound impact on our perception and understanding.
I felt the confusion and rage in your writing. Also Iām going to challenge myself to write a poem a day this month. Thank you for sharing
thanks for reading ā¤ļø cant wait to read your work!
